Barley is truly the Goodest boy. He is very attentive, affectionate (kisses and snuggles has no personal space), obedient, and does well with other dogs, cats and children. I sadly do not have enough time to give him what he deserves, and the exercise he needs to thrive and have a happy life. Barley needs a home with active family and a large yard to bounce and chase balls. He does not resource guard and is a very Omega dog the most submissive dog I've ever seen. He is very sensitive and is not very brave so I would not suggest him as a hunting dog. He LOVES to swim! He has excellent recall and will wait for you on trails. He wants to be with his people. He is not crate trained as he and my Aussie are very respectful of property (doesn't chew valuables and if you tell him something is not his he will leave it alone). He LOVE AND LIVES for balls and responds well to training with minimal effort. He does pull on the lead but could be trained not to do so I think easily I just never really use a lead because is does to well off leash. He knows- sit, stay, come, drop, off, bring it here and comes when called. He is potty trained and poops and pees when you tell him. He does whine when he gets excited and will spin around when he is happy. If it is too much I tell him to lay down until he calms down and then he relaxes. Barley comes with all his adventure gear- harness, winter camping coat, life jacket, climbing rope lead, and camping bed (he will lay here all night to sleep in our room and will go to his bed when asked). Seriously the Goodest boy. I had to choose who I give time to, my Aussie who I have had forever or Barley. If you don't like dog kisses this boy is not for you.

Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Schedule, no time
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): We added Barley to our family after we were told we could not have children, and then 1 year later we found out we were pregnant. He is such a good boy and we love him but sometimes that means knowing that we are not the best home for him. With a young child and an older dog we are not as active as we were and I can tell he is not happy. The extra energy is taking a toll on our 12 yr old Aussie and she is not happy either
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?: Not an option, my pet will stay with me for as long as it takes
Who is your veterinarian?: All creatures great and small
Would you consider a long distance adoption?:
Would you consider a foster family?:
City, State: Greenville, SC
Zip Code: 29681
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Although Barley is good with younger children, I would prefer to home him with someone who has kids 6yrs or older. Barley is a big boy and has accidentally knocked down my son a few times. He doesn't know his own size. He does not jump just spins when he is really excited. He can also be timid at first. It depends on the person and environment .
