Tig

Your New Best Friend Needs You!

We’re urgently seeking help to place a dog in fostercare. Tig is a happy and playful, bright and cuddly companion. She’s 4 years old, about 80 lbs, a white long-haired great pyrenees/boxer mix. She’s spayed, potty trained, and crate trained, and she even uses the push-to-talk buttons to communicate (mostly, that she wants to go outside/go to the park/play/cuddle, sometimes she narrates what is occurring, and occasionally, she’ll use the buttons to express emotions). Tig loves all people, but would do best in a home without infants or small children (she will still jump sometimes) or older adults who are frail. She has been known to chase cats, and can be nervous/show dominance when meeting other dogs who are anxious. She has shown some reactivity when passing unknown dogs on walks but has also had very dear dog friends. She would do well with another dog that is fairly easy going and tolerant. She is very bright and eager to please but easily distracted (was that a bee?) and can have selective hearing. She’d do well in a fenced yard for this reason. She is afraid of thunderstorms and dislikes the sound of people rolling out their garbage cans. She loves to be outside, play ball, and cuddle. She will let you know immediately if she hears any unknown sounds outside, and she very much wants to be your new best friend!

Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Moving
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): It's complicated, but we had found a better situation than we could offer her before we started planning a big move from Atlanta to Brooklyn, and at the last minute, her confirmed new home fell through. At that point, we had already signed a lease here for a tiny 4th floor walk-up where she isn’t allowed to live (we’ve tried everything & offered to give them all our money, they wont budge, and she’s not a dog you can sneak in and out in your purse). She’s currently in boarding in Atlanta (we moved in October), but despite hundreds (and hundreds) of emails and calls and posts and applications over the months, I have not found a single option where euthanization wouldn’t be a possibility. I’ve contacted every rescue and shelter and sanctuary I can find from florida to maine, breed-specific and general, I’ve posted her online on adoption sites (adopt-a-pet, rescue-me, etc), I’ve joined facebook groups for rehoming and adoption and shared her repeatedly. We're running out of time and desperate to find her a safe spot, adoption or foster
