Lola Bunny

Medium Boxer mix needs rehoming to loving and patient family

Lola Bunny or "Lola" for short is a boxer/pit bull mix that we adopted when we were living in Columbus, OH in April 2021. She is a little ball of energy, and loves chewing on sticks and rubber toys. She loves to run and jump around, she is very playful. She also loves to cuddle and have pets. When she likes you, she'll lick your face tons!

Unfortunately, we've made the difficult decision to rehome her. She is very selective of who she wants to be friendly to, and that behavior doesn't mesh with my big extended family. She's never been aggressive towards people. She gets scared of people, growls, barks, and backs away. This makes a lot of my family members uncomfortable, so it has been challenging to accommodate for us.

She dislikes the vet. It's not too difficult to handle her, but she, us, and the vets prefer we go into appointments along with her.

Lola is very vocal of when something makes her uncomfortable. If she's anxious, she'll whine and let you know. She only likes riding in the car if the window is down for her to stick out her head. She moves around in the car, so we make sure to have her in a harness and buckle her in.

She used to have some separation anxiety, which has calmed down through training. But she still doesn't like being alone and will let you know. She can take a moment to warm up to people, but once she does, she is a ball of love and happiness. She is crate and potty trained. She is also okay with staying indoors "free range," accidents are often rare as long as she has been out to pee.

She's very treat motivated. She loves to get treats. Just be careful when rewarding her for peeing outside. On walks, she likes to pee multiple times assuming she'll get a treat every time. We only reward her for the first time she pees on walks.

We have another dog at home, who she loves to play with. They often cuddle and sleep together, and Lola will shower him with licks too. They run around the yard together, and play tug. She also hangs around with her "great-uncle" --a tiny Chihuahua-- as they sniff each other and play around. So she would fit in well if you do already have other dogs at your home. She doesn't resource guard, and is okay with being fed at the same time as our other dog.
