Harper

We adopted Harper in February of 2017 when she was two years old as a companion for our first dog, Cabo. She won our hearts and will do anything to win yours. In May of that year, she was attacked on her leash by an off leash dog and has had dog reactive issues since. However, until recently, that did not extend towards our other dog. In Summer of 2021 her resource (food, toys, and most of all attention) guarding instinct was retriggered. We did attempt training which was successful for about 6 months, but our new living situation eliminates a lot of the solutions we found. Harper is as loyal as they come. She wants to be the apple of a family's eye. She loves snuggles and pets and wants, and honestly needs, to be the one and only doggo in the house. Her affection is top notch, but the resource guarding has given our other dog no quality of life. We know she will make some family so so happy. We are determined to find her a family worthy of those sweet eyes.

Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: This dog will make you her universe. This is with a heavy heart we make this decision. But our first dog has no quality of life. On her own, she is the star of the show and every pet sitter raves about her snuggles. She is dog aggressive so a fenced in yard will make play time and bathroom situations much better. She teases our cat but as long as the cat is agile and has higher ground they can co exist.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Incompatible with Other Pets
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): Increasingly resource protective to the point of altercations with our other dog. That includes our attention.
