==>> Please CLICK HERE to meet Chief!
We got our Siberian Husky Chief through a breeder. He is a great dog, incredibly loving, but he is very dominant. He plays very well with other big dogs but does not play well with small dogs or cats. Overall he will need a very experienced owner that is home most of the time. An active work-from-home professional would be his ideal.
He needs to be walked 2-3 miles every day, rain or shine. He is potty and crate trained, and is pretty good around the house. Does not chew anything except books or newspapers (not honestly sure why we think he likes the ripping sound). You cannot leave him alone with those.
He has my heart, and rehoming him is one of my hardest decisions. He is great with kids over 5, but children make him a little nervous. We have one daughter and another child on the way. Overall, he is good with my daughter but has snarled and nipped. It is typically in the afternoon when he has exercised and is hungry and tired. If older kids can be told to let him sleep, he will be fine.
He is prone to resource guarding and can be protective over his toys or food. Things like pig ears or bones are not a good choice for him. Keep to treats and plush toys. He especially loves when we fill his kong with mush from his dog food and then freeze it.
Walks well on a leash and knows basic commands (sit, down, leave it, place, etc.).
We are not going to rehome him until we find the perfect match.
