Beautiful, purebred Australian shepherd. I think we have a case of a good dog in the wrong type of household. She has the right energy level for a family, our family has evolved, and it’s too busy to give her the attention she needs. She has a lot of great characteristics and a few bad habits. I think she would be great on a farm or she could run and be with like-minded dogs. She does not do good with aggressive dogs or strangers. She also does not like lightning and fireworks. Our vet has prescribed tranquilizers for holidays (lots of fireworks in Hawaii), storms, and vet visits.

She grew up with my youngest son and endured him pulling her hair, sitting on her and riding her. She is good with our cat and rabbits.

She is great with my family and two kids. But over the years, our lifestyle completely changed; wife is working, kids are at school and constant activities. We think the loneliness is causing her to act out. She barking alone, going into the trash/on table and has bitten strangers. We feel that we are doing her a disservice keeping her home alone all the time.
