Ricky

Meet RICKY! Richard Eugene is an adorable, 8-year-old, 55 pound bouncy-ball of joy and affection who is looking for a loving new furever home. The vet thinks he could be a mix of Boxer, Beagle, and ???. Just look at those soulful, big brown eyes! They won me over when I adopted him from a shelter at just under a year old - he had been picked up as a stray. Ricky is up to date on shots and flea/heartworm prevention and has never even heard of a health problem! He is strong and athletic and would make a great running buddy and an AWESOME agility trainee. He's housebroken and crate trained but we have not used the crate in years (I will give you the crate if you want it).
Rick is super affectionate and will eat up ALL the scritches and belly rubs you have to give. He has a cute and quirky personality and makes lots of funny little vocalizations. He gets along with his two elderly brother dogs, but has a strong prey drive and would not be safe around cats and other smaller furries. (Not sure about younger kids but he loves the older neighborhood kids, with appropriate supervision.) Ricky is an attention hound and is very jealous - he would adore being your only love bug and getting all the attention!
Rick is super smart and takes to training very well - he's such a people pleaser. He can sit, fetch, and "down" (don't jump up on me) and walks on a leash, but we are still working on "stay" and "come back here" - he's just so excited about life and wants to go, go, go! I've worked hard with him to not be reactive when we meet other dogs out walking, and he's doing so great.
Rick is such a nifty little dog who deserves the best life can offer. I'm moving in with my elderly father to be his fulltime caregiver and am heartbroken that I can't take Rick with me. Do you have the time and energy to match Ricky's enthusiasm? Apply to meet sweet Rick-Rick today, you will not regret it!
