Maya

Maya has been living with us since October, when we took her in after my elderly parents were no longer able to care for her. She needs to be crated when left alone, and our work schedules lead to her being crated for long periods every day.

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: chew toys, playing with our other dog
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?: Yes
What commands does your dog know?: Most training was not reinforced. She routinely knows "go to your room" (crate), and has been doing well with coming when called
Has your dog ever exhibited any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, could you please share some details about the situation?: She is dog friendly and loves to wrestle and play chase, but when she first came to our home displayed some guarding.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: Occasionally some barking, but settles quickly. Crates very well, and will usually go to her crate on her own when she notices us getting ready to leave.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: She needs mental and physical stimulation, or else she will start to act out--digging in the yard, chewing things that aren't hers.
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: She is reacting well to more structure since coming to our home. Feeding at scheduled times rather than grazing throughout the day, going outside regularly (she will usually tell you when she wants to go out). At bedtime she goes out, then comes in to "brush her teeth before bed"

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: Flexible schedule, active lifestyle, and experience with obedience training. Maya is very treat motivated
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Maya is a very sweet dog that we just don't have the time to care for properly. She's showed a huge improvement in her behavior since we took her in and were able to give more attention and structure, but due to our own schedules, she ends up being crated for around 9 hours everyday. With a person or family that has work from home ability or has a flexible schedule, and is willing to work with her, I have no doubt they will be gaining a perfect, loving companion.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Schedule, No Time
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): She is crated most of the day
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?: One month
