Riley Fern

I am looking to re-home this pup. My co-worker found her at a gas station in the local area and I started fostering her in August. She is super sweet, loves other animals & people, and is 9 months old (so still very energetic)! She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on her exam, shots, and diagnostics, and weights ~45lbs. With a little bit more training & time to grow up, she will be the perfect family dog. She is ready to find a forever home!

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: Riley Fern loves her soft, chewy, squeak toys. She also loves a good chew on her hard bones & plastic toys. She is very energetic and loves attention. She loves to go on walks, sniff, play with sticks, and snuggle.
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?: No
What commands does your dog know?: Sit, Down, Wait, Go, Come
Has your dog ever displayed any behavioral issues, such as biting another person or pet? If so, can you please provide details on what happened?: She is not aggressive in any manner, but she does play pretty rough. This is where formal training will be handy.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: She is often left for some time in her kennel and does just fine - even if I forget to put her toy in there! If left alone outside of her kennel, she will get into stuff. She is still young and needs some training and exposure.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: None that I know of
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: She is taken outside first thing in the morning and fed breakfast after. She goes out 2-3 times during the day and most of the time I feed her a small portion of food after our afternoon walk since she is still a growing pup. She gets dinner around 6 and her last walk of the evening is usually around 9pm. This routine isn't set in stone though, and she will adjust perfectly fine to a new routine with her new family. She is very happy as long as she is walked, fed, and given lots of attention!

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: I am looking to give her to a family that will be home with her often so she doesn't have to spend her life in a kennel or outside. She is super sweet and will have the best relationship with her new owner if they are willing to put the time into her. She is super sweet to young children, but often doesn't know how big she is so it is best if she is not around young children until she gets a little bit more training and exposure. I am looking for a family that has experience with owning dogs and will ensure she gets lots of time outside & with her new owner. An owner / family that takes veterinary care seriously is also huge priority to me when finding her a home.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Found Pet
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): This pup was found wondering in the local area without a collar or microchip. I started fostering her for my co-worker, got her up to date on her exam, shots, and diagnostics, and got her spayed & microchipped. The plan has always been to re-home. In addition, my schedule does not allow for me to give her the proper attention / training for her to have a life full of outside walks and playtime.
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?: Two months
Who is your veterinarian?: Dr. Caleb Martin, DVM
