What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: He LOVES tennis balls. He does break them pretty easily but he doesn’t mind if they don’t bounce well. He also loves to run, even a closed backyard (something we lack) would make him sooo happy. He gets the zoomies and needs space to just sprint in circles.

Has your dog received any formal obedience training?: No

What commands does your dog know?: Sit, lay down, come, stay, focus, paw and he will give you his other paw if you ask.

Has your dog ever displayed any behavioral issues, such as biting another person or pet? If so, can you please provide details on what happened?: Yes, the previous owners mother took a treat out Zeus’ mouth and as he went to bite back at the treat, he also bit her. He hasn’t shown any actual food aggression, though. He also ‘bites’ when he gets overly excited when trying to play with you.

How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: He is extremely anxious and fearful, often whining and crying and barking when he is left, but stops after a few minutes and otherwise is okay for short periods of time.

Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: Being crated, as his previous owner would crate him and leave him for the entire day. He also is reactive to other dogs, and that physically stresses him out.

Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: He needs at least 3 long walks a day, definitely more if given the opportunity. He often gets 30min-60min long walks, with some running involved (but not required!). Feeding and sleep have been flexible for him as he has been adjusting.

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: No health concerns, he is very healthy!

Personality:

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?: He is a giant love bug, and truly just wants your attention. He’s still young so he is always bringing you tennis balls he has found to play. He makes a great companion.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: They should not have any other dogs, and need to be able to work with a reactive animal and really work on training. He needs proper attention, and a lot of compassion.

Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: He has an incredible sense of smell thanks to his breed, and right now he is hooked on tennis balls as they’re his favorite. He found a tennis ball in our backyard that was under six inches of dirt! Doing hide and seek with him makes for a great play time.

Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Housing is Inadequate for Pet

Rehoming reason details (if necessary): Sadly, we do not have the right requirements for Zeus, and he was thrown onto us with no warning. We have given him a lot of love and attention these last few weeks but shelters are full, and he deserves a home that can really understand him and help him with his behaviors.
