I adopted Faye from a rescue in southern Texas in 2021 and her age was estimated to be around 5 years old. Therefore, I would guess she is around 7 or 8 years old now. Faye is a very energetic and athletic dog, and I would like her new home to have a good fenced backyard for her to sniff and run and play. She is around 50 pounds. She does have some reactivity to other dogs when she is on a leash, but when off leash and in a less stressful environment, she is submissive to other dogs. She does better with dogs smaller than her. She does not like dog parks because multiple big dogs come up to her at the same time and she gets overwhelmed, scared and defensive. Her backstory is unknown, but she is apprehensive when meeting new people, but once she understands they're not going to hurt her, she is the sweetest most affectionate baby. She has never bitten anyone since I've had her and is not outwardly aggressive, she just gets defensive and scared sometimes.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?:
she had a really hard life before I adopted her and is the most loving and grateful dog you'll meet. She is just so affectionate and sweet always nudging for pets and cuddles, and sleeps in a very tight ball, just so happy to be loved and cared for. , Her history is mostly unknown, but was found by rescue in 2021, 25 pounds underweight as a stray and pregnant. Severely malnourished, with lots of scars, and her puppies all died due to her condition.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
A good backyard with high fence and lots of grass. Someone who can give her lots of exercise and running time. (she's fast fast), someone who isn't going to be gone from the house for more than 5 hours without at least checking back in for a potty break. Someone who is patient and compassionate to give her time to adjust, and is ready to take care of her as she gets older (she's around 8 right now) and can financially and patience wise take care of her until the end of her life. I want this new home to be her furever home..
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
She has puppy energy, even though she is an adult. Always excited to see her people and loves to play fight with a rope or tug of war, belly rubs, and just cuddles and pets all the time. She is very scared during rain and thunderstorms and will shake with anxiety, so just be ready for that. She will be fine and that's just her response. She does get cbd treats from time to time during storms and it helps.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Pet Parent Illness
Rehoming reason details (if necessary):
I have recently developed a new health issue that prevents me from giving her the best life and care that she needs, I love her so so much, and it breaks my heart to let her go, but she deserves a new home that can make the rest of her life the best it can be. I want her to be loved and adored and cuddled and know that she is wanted and safe. She will be very confused when she leaves and the new home will need to give her time to adjust and learn that she is safe in this new environment. But once it clicks, she will be your protector, your best friend, running buddy, and so much more
