Kida

Kida is just under 2 years old and full of life!! Kida is extremely playful, super energetic, and loves to be outside sunbathing and adventuring. Kida is perfect for anyone loving and looking for an outdoors companion that they can spoil at home!!

Pet's Name: Kida
Dog: Primary Breed: American Staffordshire Terrier
Primary Breed (if not in list): pitbull/staffordshire mix
Birthdate, estimate is okay: august 2022
Age Category: Young
Where did you get your pet?: stray puppy in woods
Adoption Day, when did you adopt your pet? An estimate is okay.: found October 2022
Gender: Female
Size (at full grown): Medium
Weight (in pounds) at full-grown size. Example: 35: 41
Primary Color: Black (Mostly)
What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: SUPER CHEWER!!!! Kida loves to play and is super energetic. Tossing a ball with this girl is great for her, but be warned, she's pretty fast!!!! But of everything, this little girl loves to chew and will keep herself occupied for very long periods of time if she has a proper chew!! I tend to order her antlers and marrow bones.
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?: No
What commands does your dog know?: KIDA IS A QUICK LEARNER!!!! With patience, she has learned commands faster than any of the other dogs in the house. and she is extremely food motivated so little treats get her attention really fast!! sit, stay, go, lay down, leave it, back up, paw, twirl. She's also great at catching treats. I started teaching her how to run up to me and launch off of my body (cuz this girl can jump!!) but we are far from mastering that as it is difficult with the other dogs running around.
Has your dog ever exhibited any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, could you please share some details about the situation?: Kida plays very hard and sometimes that is an issue having her around other dogs. Kida does live with 2 other dogs, her actual brother Milo, and my lab Bishop. Kida and Bishop have had a few squabbles in the past and have nipped at each other. Kida would not mind being a solo dog as she does not like to share her toys and gets growly when her brother tries to take them.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: Kida will whine for a bit (the saddest most pathetic whine) but she is okay alone for a while when she has her chews or bones to keep her busy. I have an extra large crate that I would leave her in (a bed can also be in the crate, she's not one to tear it up), or sometimes I leaver her in a room and she is fine with toys.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: We have managed to understand how Kida is around other dogs, but I would recommend her being a solo dog unless she has constant supervision around the other dog(s) until there is absolute certainty everyone is comfortable. Kida does not like yelling. If anyone around is yelling in aggression, she will match that energy,
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: Kida is polite when being fed, she will not bombard her food. "sit", set down food, "leave it", "go". I feed her twice a day but she tends to walk away half way through her meal; she is a snacker.Out of the three dogs at my house, Kida is the best on the leash. She will try to pull but with patience she will stop. Kida is housebroken but she does need to go out a more often than the boy dogs at the house and regularly, I let her out to potty at least 4 times a day to avoid accidents. After Kida has been exhausted of energy she loves to snuggle and cuddle!!

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: Kida and her brother Milo were both found together in the woods at a disc golf course and both were extremely malnourished, Kida weighing under 15lbs at what seemed like 3 months old. Both puppies also had Parvo when they were found. I hospitalized both puppies immediately and they both beat it!! Kida of course, being the spicy little girl she is, was released out of the hospital a couple days before her bigger brother, and the same evening we brought her home that scrawny little girl was clearing the couch in one jump!!!!

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?: Kida is a little pitty with a HUGE personality!! She is cautious, but brave and curious. She is my little adventurer. If you are in need o fa hiking buddy, she is definitely the one!!
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: Active and loving. Kida is the only female pet currently in our household, and she loves to be spoiled like a princess, but she is always ready to get outside and adventure.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Kida is a great companion. While she is fine occupying herself with a bone, she loves adventuring and being spoiled.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Found Pet
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): We love Kida, but she would thrive with owners who have a more active lifestyle. After finding and taking in Kida and her brother I have been overwhelmed with the multitude of different personalities and high energy levels in my small home. It is not fair to Kida to not have a space and lifestyle that she deserves.
If applicable, do you have the legal right or necessary permission from the breeder or rescue organization to rehome this pet? :
Not Applicable
Yes
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?: One month
Who is your veterinarian?: Dr. Huskey at Hickory Grove Animal Hospital
What do you feed your pet?: She does not have any allergies that I have found out, and she likes just about anything I give her. Oddly, she LOVES coconut oil. She has been getting a mix of dry and wet food, salmon oil, and I will feed her chicken, steak, liver, some fish or other meats. She has raw meats sometimes in small amounts, but I typically cook her food. She is a snacker and rather slim (in my opinion) so I giver her a lot of treats throughout the day. Occasional snacks include freeze dried chicken feet, pig ear, cow ears, knee cap bones.
Do you have pet insurance for your pet? : No
