Meet Rocky, a dynamic two-year-old mixed breed hailing from Las Vegas, NV, who is an energetic blend of Siberian Husky, American Pitbull Terrier, and Labrador Retriever, wrapped in a sleek black coat with a striking white blaze on his chest!
Rocky’s journey has been one of resilience and transformation. Initially found neglected and underweight, Rocky has blossomed into a healthy, spirited companion under the dedicated care of his current guardian. He’s now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to embark on the next chapter of his life with a loving family!
This large, 68-pound bundle of joy knows a repertoire of basic commands: including sit, down, inside (crate), open (front door), wait, and eat (for his food). While he’s made remarkable progress, Rocky would thrive best with an experienced handler who can continue his training journey. His medium-high energy levels make him playful yet manageable, though he does have a preference for larger dogs and may not be the best fit for homes with small dogs or young children. His reactions to cats remain a mystery, as he hasn’t had enough interactions to determine his compatibility.
Rocky is a creature of routine, since being born and living in Las Vegas with it’s hot summers; he enjoys his walks in the cooler early mornings and late evenings, ensuring he stays comfortable and hydrated throughout the day. His favorite pastimes include playing with toys and spending time in his oversized crate, which will accompany him to his new home along with his toys, food bin, collars, leashes, and any remaining food.
Despite his initial challenges, Rocky has shown no signs of behavioral issues like biting. However, he does experience anxiety with loud noises such as fireworks, dishwashers, washing machines, and other loud noises. Playing music, such as light classical or smooth jazz, while he’s alone helps keep him calm and content.
Rocky’s endearing personality shines through in moments of connection; when spoken to, he tilts his head as if trying to understand every word, a gesture that never fails to melt hearts! He requires a secure, fenced yard where he can safely explore and play, and his future family must be committed to working with him to complete his training to ensure his success to be a great dog for the right person or family.
