Handsome Pom mix lap dog
This pup wants so bad to be in your lap, while you sip your coffee, in a quiet home. He has a sweet disposition, but barks incessantly when he is anxious. He was surrendered to me by my sister who went away to the West Coast for a job almost four years ago. We are a big dog family and have three other dogs, but this one seems to be too small and gets nervous around our rambunctious boys. I have tried to train the barking to no avail, even with a shock collar. I trained my other large dogs, but this pup is just not happy in his environment.

He barks at my boys who run around and cause him serious anxiety. He chews everything when they are around, I think he is worried about being jumped on, stepped on, a toy hitting him, etc. I have tried to train the barking habit, but it really stems from his anxiety and I don’t feel it is appropriate to sedate him. He just needs a quiet home, which we do not have at this stage in our lives.
