Monroe

A Home for Monroe

Unfortunately, I am having to rehome my beloved Monroe because he is not good with young children. I am currently expecting my third child in 4 years and the stress and anxiety it has caused him is too much and so I believe he would be better off in a home without children or other pets. He is known to resource guard food and people (mainly me). He has no bite history but he can be aggressive towards strangers and most dogs. Once he warms up to you he is very sweet, well mannered, and quiet. I do not want to mislead anyone however, he absolutely should not be around young children (he would probably do fine with older kids and teenagers, but I still don't think he should be placed in a home with either) and should be watched very carefully around other animals. He loves to run and spends a lot of time outside. Although he requires more care and experience than a lot of dogs, he is still a sweetheart with his people and deserves to live in a home where he does not have to live in constant anxiety.

Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: Fireworks are a new trigger. Again, he can be reactive and does not like being around children or most dogs. He does resource guard food and me. I'm not sure if he'd resource guard new owners as I seem to be his only "target". It causes him anxiety if he perceives a threat against me and will become very reactive.
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: No particular routine. He is pretty flexible. The only thing is that walking can be dangerous as I said, he does not like most other dogs.
