Sweet, Loving Pup Looking For A New Home
Due to personal reasons we are looking for a new home for our sweet Ruby-girl. She was found by a neighbor last May and we took her in. She was very malnourished and we're not sure of her backstory, but since then we have given her an incredibly loving home and brought her back to health. Over the last six months, her personality has really started to blossom. She is a funny dog who loves to follow us around, gets aggressive happy rolls, and has the silliest little smile. She is food-motivated and will steal unsupervised food. We trained her to be responsive to getting off of furniture, and gave her her own recliner. At night, and when leaving the house we put her in her crate. She loves sleeping in there, but during the day will have brief, mild separation while walking out the door. When out in public she will happily meet other dogs as well as new people. She gets a lot of attention at coffee shops and is the most precious little girl. In her home she is more protective. She will bark when people approach or enter the house, or are working in the yard. I'm sure this behavior can be curbed with the right consistency and diligence.
She is the sweetest girl, loves to snuggle, is protective of the home and is well trained. We spayed and microchipped her, and she's up to date on all her shots. We believe she is a Chihuahua and Pomeranian mix, and she has the cutest coloring.

Ruby is protective of the home and is startled when people approach the house. The gardener was working in the yard and she got out and nipped at his hand.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?:
She is just fine if crated. She will bark and be excited to welcome you home, but there are no issues
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?:
As mentioned, she is protective of the home. When people approach the house or when we have guests over, she will bark and be defensive until she gets comfortable. Even when she becomes comfortable, sudden movements can startle her. With more consistent training, I believe this behavior can be stopped. Outside of the house, she has no issues meeting people. It is only when people come to her home.
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?:
She is typically fed around 7 and 7. We take a half-mile walk in the morning before breakfast. If it's not too warm we'll take another half mile walk in the evening. Ruby likes to turn in when the humans turn in and she always sleeps in her crate. She typically needs a potty break right before bed, and right away in the morning.

On three occasions we experienced Ruby having minor (10-15 second) seizures. One time she was certainly overheated and over exercised. You will notice that she starts to get uneasy on her feet, and will be a bit wobbly. In these instances, we've held her, gently stroked her back and belly and talked softly to her until it passed.
