Orange Dream

Orange Dream (Odie for short) is a friendly and playful ~1.5 year old kitty. He loves playing but once he's worn out, he enjoys being a lap cat (he climbs up on your chest, like he's giving you a hug). He loves meeting new people too! He's an inquisitive kitty - even wants out of his carrier so he can snoop around at the vets office! I could play with him for hours - he loves jumping way high up in the air to catch bird toys.
I found him outside & injured and I took him in (he's back in fighting shape now!) and would love to keep him, but he's much younger and much more energetic than my senior kitty who has multiple health problems. I have not tried introducing them (to not put added stress on my senior), so I am not sure how Odie is with other cats. Odie would love have a permanent home with lots of playtime and attention. ❤️

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: He is FIV negative and has been given all his shots (rabies, feline leukemia, and Prcc). But, while he was outside, he contracted Feline Hemotropic Mycoplasmosis. This is a bacteria/parasite that destroys red blood cells. It can be treated with antibiotics and then the immune system will keep it in check. It is possible that it can flair up again due to stress. My vet knows that I am trying to find Odie a good home, and he did not think it would be an issue other than to have his new pet parents keep an eye on his activity level and appetite. If either drops, he would need to have his temperature checked and be restarted on antibiotics. Given how calm he is with new people and being curious in the vets office, my hope is that a move to a new family would not be so stressful that the condition reappears. Also, the vet said it was extremely unlikely for the bacteria/parasite to be transmitted to another cat as long as they were kept inside - transmission would require a flea or tick biting Odie and then biting another cat.
