Sonia

Majestic Sonia

We are looking to rehome our beloved dog, Sonia. She is a sweet girl, and deserves a home and a family that is a better fit. She has been loved and cared for her entire life, and it’s because of our love for her, that we’ve come to the difficult realization that she deserves a new home.

We adopted Sonia as a puppy three years ago from a friend. She is most likely a blend of Black Lab and Great Dane, but we have not done genetic testing. She is a majestic, healthy, active, dog with a sweet disposition. She is also extremely anxious and lacks confidence.

Sonia needs a family who are experienced having dogs. She is very reactive around other dogs and will need training to be around dogs. In our home, she was the only dog. We are a family of 4, two adults and two teens. When we walk her in our suburban neighborhood, she pulls hard when other dogs appear.

Sonia needs attention, she is not the kind of dog who can be left home alone all day. She needs mental challenges and regular physical activity, or at least the opportunity to roam in a large back yard.

Here’s a little more about Sonia.

Smart and trainable
Spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped
Housebroken
No known health issues, has had regular veterinary care her entire life
Barks and jumps at first around new human visitors, but quickly calms if we are calm
She is fully grown and weighs 60 pounds.
She does not shed a lot, but does shed
Will snuggle with you, so long as you are petting her and loves belly rubs.
She loves the outdoors and walks, and needs at least 2 vigorous walks a day. Further activity helps drain her energy.
Off leash, in the woods she leaps athletically and gracefully like a gazelle
She will pull on the leash until you make her sit, then she calms down
3 ½ years old. We’ve had her since she was 6 months old.
We feed her Kirkland brand premium dog food, 1.5 cups twice per day
We have been very good about giving her HeartGuard for heartworms and NexGard for fleas and ticks. We have a few more months supply.
She has not been raised in a home with young children
Has occasionally chewed shoes
Loves chew toys
Sonia is a loving, lovable dog. In our view, she has a long, happy life ahead of her with the right family.
