Grover

Grover is a 1.5 year old Basenji. He is the sweetest boy you will ever meet who just wants food and pets all day!

Our reason for rehoming our baby is that we cannot provide the time or financial resources he needs in our current situation. He was rehomed to us in February 2024 from a neglectful situation. We were told he was potty trained, but he was very much not when we took him in. He had severe separation anxiety, assumably due to his neglectful past.

Since adopting him, we have potty trained and crate trained him. He still has accidents every once in a while in the house, but they are now few and far between. He is currently on an anxiety medication prescribed by the vet to help him cope when we are gone during the day for work. While he does still have some undesirable behaviors while in his crate, he has come a long way from peeing in his crate everyday while we are gone to only having an occasional accident.

We have done everything we know to do aside from professional training that we cannot afford at this point in our lives. He definitely needs an experienced owner who will be patient with him and has the means to get him professional training for the separation anxiety. I don’t say all this to scare people away, but to be honest so we make sure we find the right forever home for him! We love him so so much but cannot currently provide him with what he needs.

He loves to be held like the big baby he is, stare into your soul, and follow you everywhere! He will be a Velcro dog once he gets to know you and bonds with you. He is good with other dogs and kids. I take him and my other dog to the dog park almost everyday and have never had any problems. He loves to chase smaller animals like cats and squirrels but has never hurt my parents’ cats when I bring him to their house. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccines!

There will be a rehoming fee, just to make sure he goes to a good home that can afford his needs. Please contact me if you are interested in/ have questions about this sweet Basenji boy!!
