Ivan is a 2-3 year old male Boston Terrier. He was born with an injury due to being cramped in the womb. He is very capable of walking. Even to the point where he ran to get his bed and brought it in to where his foster parent was so he could sit by her!
He is very sweet and loving to people once he gains their trust. He has been moved around from home to home (within his family) due to family issues, so I’m sure he is experiencing some trauma from this. He does take a little while to warm up, but now adores his foster mom.
I have gotten his shots up to date and he is scheduled to be neutered the week of 11/11. He does not have a bite history and lived at one family member’s home where he sat on the couch with and played with her grandchildren. He went to another home because she had large male dogs that bullied him. I do not recommend him going to a home with large male dogs. I am praying that you can help this sweet boy.
Dog: Primary Breed:
Boston Terrier
Birthdate, estimate is okay:
01/01/2021
Where did you get your pet?:
A friend’s cousin was in a horrible car accident overseas and she has still not been able to return to the states. Her daughter was the “sometimes” owner of this dog, but, due to personal problems she is unable to care for him. So, there is no responsible person in that family who can take him. The lady who is fostering him stepped in to help. But I don’t think she realized that rehoming a dog is a long process. I have two large dogs and a pool. I’m unable to take him due to the size of my dogs and I worry he would fall in the pool.
Adoption Day, when did you adopt your pet? An estimate is okay.:
I took Ivan from his owner about a month ago.
Size (at full grown):
Small
Weight (in pounds) at full-grown size. Example: 35:

Primary Color:
Tan (Mostly)
What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?:
I don’t know him well, but he loves his bed and his crate. He also has some favorite toys that his owner sent with him. I think he would love to go on walks. But so far, his foster hasn’t tried that.
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?:
No
What commands does your dog know?:
I think he knows “no” and “come on”. Probably more because he’s super smart. I just haven’t been around him enough to know.
Has your dog ever exhibited any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, could you please share some details about the situation?:
When he was at the vet and there were 8 or 10 new people in this small room but they were very gentle with him and he did calm down.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?:
He seems to like his crate.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?:
New people and large male dogs. I have seen him become very sweet once he has decided the “new person” isn’t going to hurt him. He has had so much change in his short life that I can’t blame him.
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?:
His previous owner said he should not be fed after 4:00 p.m. because he goes potty almost right after. He does not seem to be a dog that barks at everything or whines.
Medical History and Care:
Vaccinations up to date
Spayed or Neutered
House/Litter-Trained
Microchipped
Special Diet
Special Needs
Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?:
He was born with an injury (from being crowded in the womb) so one of his legs doesn’t work as well as the other 3. My friend’s son who is a cousin of the previous owner said his walking is so much better now than when he was at another family’s home. He was able to run around and exercise more. So this helped him.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?:
In spite of having a pretty sad home life for his first 2 or 3 years, he has a remarkable joy for life. Watching one of the videos from his foster mom where he was running around her house exploring and playing like a puppy broke my heart. I just want him to find someone who will make him a priority and love his goofy quirky personality. And when his foster told the story of him running to his crate to get his bed so he could bring it by her so he could sit with her, gave me such joy!
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
This little boy has been through so much. I hope that you can find a family or individual that has patience and doesn’t give up easily. I want him to go to a family who knows that if he goes potty in the house that he didn’t choose to do that because he’s a bad dog. His precious owners did not have the necessary training or resources to give Ivan the home he deserved. I want the people or person who adopts Ivan to realize that there might be times when he goes potty in the house but I know there are people and resources that can help. I used potty pads with my small dogs because they were stubborn. But they were still loving and gave me so much joy. Please don’t give up
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
I am only a friend of a family member who owned Ivan. I feel like all pets deserve a loving home and I could not sit back and hear about what this poor dog was going through. He needs a home where he will be loved unconditionally and while he is not a perfect dog, he is precious and lovable ❤️
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Other, Not in List
Rehoming reason details (if necessary):
Ivan’s owner, who is my good friend’s cousin, was involved in a terrible car accident overseas where she was seriously injured. Their daughter was the partial owner of the dog but has been going through some serious personal problems. The lady who was injured is still overseas due the the severity of her injuries and her daughter could not be responsible for Ivan. As an animal lover, I offered to help cover vet costs and try to find him a home, not knowing that the family was talking about taking him to a shelter. I know how that works out. A friend said she would foster him but now she is overwhelmed because of her physical limitations.
