Nugget

Looking for a home for my little Nugget. He is a sweet, beautiful green-eyed boy with an adorable personality, a little bit of cattitude, and a heart full of love. We need to re-home due to his preference for the bachelor lifestyle, i.e. he prefers to ride solo. We are here to find a forever family for him, so he can share all the love he has shown us, in a home that can meet his needs.

Gender: Male
Size (at full grown): Medium
Weight (in pounds) at full-grown size. Example: 35: 15

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: Nugget’s favorite toys include laser pointers, teaser wands, and basically anything with catnip. When you aren’t playing with him, you can find him bird/people watching in the window, napping in his cat tree, or at your side looking for a snuggle! He also enjoys watching cat tv (videos of birds, squirrels, etc.) and listening to soothing music for cats.
Does your cat have any amusing or peculiar habits, like "chattering" at birds through the window or fetching toys?: Nugget will chatter occasionally when at the window. He’s also harness trained, but we’ve only taken him outside a couple times. These excursions outside were semi-successful, as he would walk for a bit, but get overwhelmed and lie down. With more practice, he may be a great walking companion! He’ll let you dress him up for Halloween, too!
What is the most adorable thing about your cat?: Nugget is a very playful and energetic cat, which makes for a very entertaining companion. The most adorable thing about him, though, is when he’s wanting to snuggle. He’ll very politely walk up to you and ask for love and cuddles, typically when you’re sitting/reclined, and lay on your chest face to face with you. During these moments, he’ll be especially grateful for some chin and ear scritches! He’ll even let you hold him like a baby (on his back), if you feel so inclined. He’ll also make biscuits for you if you have a soft, fluffy blanket

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: Nugget was diagnosed with Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) in April of 2024. He needs a prescription diet and daily medication (currently prescribed amitriptyline). Very important note: this is a diet that he will need to be on for the rest of his long, adorable life, and any changes (unless recommended by a Vet) can cause Nugget to be hospitalized or pass away. We’ve been feeding him Royal Canine Feline Urinary SO which he really seems to like, but the vet also gave us the option of Hills Feline c/d or Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets UR St/Ox. As for his medicine, he happily takes his daily pill in a Greenies Pill Pocket and especially loves the salmon flavor. We will gladly supply Nugget’s new family with a bag of prescription kibble and a few cans of wet food to allow some flexibility with getting a new prescription under their name. It should also be noted, we were planning on getting him neutered, but the vet was cautious because the surgery may cause undue stress and send him into another FIC episode, resulting in hospitalization. Additionally, he would have to temporarily stop his medication for the surgery, which, unfortunately, with his current living situation, has not been an option for us.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: We would prefer a home without other cats as Nugget has not adjusted well to having other cats in his space.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Incompatible with Other Pets
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): My partner and I moved in together in January of 2024. They have two cats, and we tried slow introductions, using recommendations from our vet. Unfortunately, during this time, and likely due to stress, Nugget experienced a urinary blockage and was diagnosed with FIC. We drastically changed our approach, again, based on vet recommendations. However, he is still not adjusting to the other two cats. After almost a year of trying, we think Nugget simply needs to be in a single cat home. He had previously lived with a dog (Pitbull-medium size), and that seemed fine. We love Nugget dearly. However, he clearly isn’t happy in this new living situation, and we hope to find a home suitable for his medical and social needs.
