Loki

This is Loki. He is a rescue. My husband and I got him in February of 2023 from the shelter- he had been in for what they estimate was a year and a half. He is now a little over 3 years old. He is loyal, playful, spunky, and so very cuddly. He is also reactive to dogs and people he does not know. He had his second reported bite (level one) yesterday and we have to rehome him. The circumstances of the bite were complex, and ultimately it was my fault because I took him out without his muzzle. He should never be outside the home without his muzzle. He has never shown any concerning behavior with people he does know, and if you take introductions slow he has always done just fine. We live on boarding school property and they have asked us to let them know by the end of the day what we will do with him.

He was not reactive when we brought him home. He was the dog in the shelter that they used to introduce other dogs to. His reactivity was a slow progression. He graduated obedience class, is crate trained, muzzle trained, and has a correction collar. We have another dog that he absolutely loves and spends endless amounts of time cuddling with. Some dogs he does fine with, it seems to be size and temperament dependent. He needs a home without children.

He has brought so much joy and laughter into our lives and taught us so much about unconditional love. My heart is absolutely broken at having to make this call, but ultimately my husband and I want to have kids and I can't keep him in a situation that will put his life in danger. While a bite outside the home is 100 percent preventable with his muzzle, a bite in the home with a small child is a different story all together.

Please reach out if you're interested. I promise, he can be a lot, but he's also a very special boy. And that's not just me, all the people that know him would say the same. I will do anything to keep him out of the shelter and to not have to euthanize him. Including personally deliver him across the United States if I have to.
