Meet Rover: A Brave Great Pyrenees in Urgent Need of a Compassion
Rover is a 4-year-old neutered male Great Pyrenees who has overcome an incredibly difficult and painful past. Rescued from an abusive and neglectful situation, he’s made great progress, but he still has a long road to recovery. Rover has a torn ligament in his leg that requires ongoing medical care, and as he continues to heal physically, he also needs trauma-informed training to address and heal emotional triggers from his past.
While Rover has never bitten anyone, he can growl or bare his teeth when feeling threatened or triggered, which is a natural response to the pain and fear he’s experienced. With time, patience, love, and gentle training, he’s learning to trust again (he’s come so far since we first met him), but he urgently needs a family who understands his needs and is committed to helping him continue his journey of healing.
Rover is a sweet, loving companion at his core, and in the right environment, he will thrive. His ideal home is one with experience in working with trauma or a family willing to invest in his emotional well-being. He needs a calm, non-authoritarian household where he can feel safe, secure, and supported. He also requires a large outdoor space to roam and explore, and he does great with other animals. Rover currently lives with two dogs and two cats, and he enjoys the company of all of them. We want to ensure he never “works” as a guard dog again, but instead is given the space and love to simply be a dog.
If you’re an experienced, patient family ready to provide Rover with the medical care, training, and unconditional love he deserves, please reach out. Rover is in urgent need of a fresh start and a family who will help him heal and flourish. We have given him everything we possibly can, but we need to find him his forever home, where he can truly thrive.
Thank you for considering giving Rover the chance at the loving, safe home he so deeply deserves. We hate to let him go, but want him to live the best life he can possibly live.
