Dolly Pawton

Hello my name is Dolly Pawton (named after my favorite country artist). I am an affectionate girl with a relaxed personality. For the most part I like cuddling up with my blanket and humans and taking naps near my humans. Don't get me wrong I love a good walk and doing zoomies in an open space, but after 20 min I am ready to take another nap. I also love following my humans around the house just in case they may need my assistance with anything. I loath the cold and only go out in it to use the bathroom, during the warmer months I enjoy laying out in the sun. While I would love to be around my humans all day I do not require it. Because of my laid back personality I am okay with hanging out at home in my crate while my humans do their human stuff. I am also very good in the car incase you may need some company doing your human stuff. I typically don't like to use my vocal cords for barking, but I will in order to alert my humans that they have visitors, or to say a quick hello to other animals. Other than that I am a pretty quiet girl. I welcome visitors with open paws and will take all the pets and attention that I can get. Sometimes I need reminders to give people space and not to jump when I get excited, but am very good at listening, and always aim to please my humans.

Just, like Ms. Parton herself I LOVE attention, but do not like to share the spotlight, so I need to be in a home with no other dogs. I do really well with other dogs when I am going for a walk or at doggy daycare but I don't really like sharing the affection of my humans. I also really appreciate my personal space (who doesn't), so I need to join a family with only adults or older children. I have had a few challenges when my personal space was invaded. Both times involved young children who invaded my personal space and did not respect my boundaries.

**When we first rescued Dolly she was 1 1/2 and my daughter was 1. Dolly was unbelievably tolerant of my daughter. She didn't mind my daughter hugging, squeezing, laying on her, dressing her up and even coloring her with marker one time unbeknownst to be me, while I was cooking dinner. However once we got a second dog we slowly started seeing changes in Dolly she became possessive of her toys and attention. And also became less tolerant of the kids, while we had made every effort to teach our kids to give her space, and not love on her as much as they use to, it still is not a safe situation. Which is why we need to rehome her with a family who is only adults or older kids who have experience with dogs who have hard boundaries. We believe that being in a quiet home without children or other dogs she will go back to her old tolerant easy going self.
