Rocky

Meet Rocky, a 2.5-year-old, 47lb mixed breed (67% Australian Cattle Dog, 14% Labrador Retriever, 10% Bull Terrier, 9% American Pit Bull Terrier) looking for the right home in the Portland, OR Metro Area. Rocky is a smart, athletic, and well-trained dog who thrives on activity and structure. He’s fully crate trained, house trained, and e-collar trained for off-leash adventures. He knows a variety of commands, including sit, place, down, shake, spin, up (jump onto something), wait, back up, and be calm. We’ve invested in professional training to help him be the best version of himself, and it shows—he’s obedient, eager to learn, and incredibly loyal.

Rocky adores kids and has been raised alongside our two young children (10 months and 4 years old). He’s affectionate and gentle with them, making him a great family dog. He loves his daily Chuck-It sessions and is an excellent companion for hiking, running, and exploring trails. He would also thrive as a sporting dog, excelling in activities that challenge his athleticism and intelligence. Whether it’s agility, herding, scent work, or dock diving, Rocky is eager to work and engage. He would also do well with an active owner who enjoys the outdoors or even on a farm, where he could put his natural instincts to good use.

Rocky is in excellent health, fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and has no known health issues. Full medical records are available.

While Rocky has many amazing qualities, he does have leash reactivity toward other dogs, which requires ongoing management and training. His reactivity is fear-based rather than excitement-driven, so he does best with an experienced owner who is confident in handling a dog that requires structure and control on walks. When off-leash, Rocky can play with other dogs, but introductions need to be handled carefully, as he tends to check for dominance. While he’s not outright aggressive, he thrives in a home where his interactions with other dogs can be managed appropriately.

We want to find Rocky a home where he will continue to thrive with a dog-savvy owner who understands leash reactivity and is willing to continue training. He needs a home where he can get plenty of exercise and mental stimulation—he loves structure and having a job to do! A yard or space where he can play off-leash safely would be ideal. He has done great with kids and could do well with other dogs with proper introductions, but no cats or small animals, as he has a high prey drive.

Rocky is a loving, active, and highly trainable dog who will be an incredible companion in the right home. If you think you could be the right match for Rocky, we’d love to hear from you. Serious inquiries only—we are committed to finding the best possible home for him.
