At 75 pounds, Ellie is an energetic and intelligent girl who loves to keep busy. Tug-of-war, fetch, and lounging in the sun are some of her favorite activities! She’s a big fan of tennis balls and Kong toys and will happily chase, chew, and tug until it’s time for a well-deserved nap. Ellie knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, paw, other paw, place, find it, come, and wait—she’s a smart cookie who thrives on mental stimulation.
Ellie is friendly with other dogs but needs a cat-free home—she’s not a fan of feline friends. She does well when left alone for short periods and will snooze until you return. However, firecrackers and smoke alarms make her nervous, so her new family should be ready to give her some extra comfort during loud or sudden noises.
Ellie would do best in a home with an experienced dog guardian who can respect her boundaries and provide structure, love, and continued training. She’s generally sweet-natured but has shown some protective tendencies, particularly when startled while resting or if she feels uncomfortable with someone investigating her paws or legs. She always gives warnings, but her future family should be mindful that there was a previous bite incident when she was startled and to be understanding of her body language.
