Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.: Yes. I adopted Buddy from CARE of DC, a shelter I was volunteering at about 2 years ago when he was 6 months old. Buddy lacked any proper training so his herding instinct was strong and caused him to nip and herd children. He had already been through 3 homes, and initially the rescue didn't want to accept him but through shell game of calls Buddy was surrendered. When I initially got him 2 years ago he bit the day walker in the hand when she went to get his food bowl and then he bit my mom in the hand the next day.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: Experienced cattle dog owner with no young children
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Buddy is a very intelligent dog with a wide range of vocabulary and commands. He is housebroken and knows the names of his toys, words like breakfast and naptime. He is a quick learner, very clever, and a real natural at agility and sniff games. He loves daycare and playdates, but is leash reactive. Resource guarding is another issue that has gotten better, but needs much more work. The car is a complicated place for Bud. He loves going for rides but needs to be crated otherwise he turns on the windshield wipers. Buddy needs an experienced ACD owner because he is a true heeler: strong herding instinct, nips as communication, leash/barrier reactive. He does have a bite history. Shortly after I adopted him at 6 mos old, I went on trip and he bit the hand of someone going for his food bowl. No children or cats please. He will thrive in an active house, with a fenced in yard or electronic fence, and one or more playful dogs. Bud is a sweet boy, with big feels and makes for a loyal dog.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Housing is Inadequate for Pet
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): I adopted Buddy from CARE of DC, a shelter I was volunteering at about 2 years ago when he was 6 months old. Buddy lacked any proper training so his herding instinct was strong and caused him to nip and herd children. He had already been through 3 homes, and initially the rescue didn't want to accept him but through shell game of calls Buddy was surrendered. CARE of DC is too small to take care of a working breed like Buddy so I adopted him. Unfortunately, my working situation has changed and now I work outside of the house 6-7 days a week for 8-11 hour chunks at a time. It has taken a great toll on Buddy. He goes to and is great at doggy daycare (see photo) but I cannot afford to bring him everyday. My father lets him out to potty when I am working, but my dad doesn’t feel comfortable playing with him and Bud knows it, so he does his business and goes inside. When I initially got him 2 years ago he bit the one and only dog walker I tried, and this was someone he knew before I adopted him. We worked really hard and Bud hasn't bitten anyone since but I know this is info you must know. After 4 months of the new work schedule, Buddy is struggling with separation anxiety and desperately needs an outlet but I am unable to provide him with one.
