Maia

Meet Maia, a brilliant and independent seven-and-a-half-year-old wolf-husky mix from San Diego, CA, whose calm demeanor and keen intelligence make her a truly special companion! With her striking grey and white coat and a heart that craves both adventure and relaxation, Maia is looking for a quiet, stress-free home where she can be the center of attention.

Maia is the perfect mix of laid-back and adventurous—she spends most of her day sunbathing or lounging on the couch, but she’s always up for a hike, a beach day, or a long afternoon walk! She’s incredibly smart, knowing an impressive list of commands, including sit, stay, wait, place, shake, and even “spot” for going to her bed. With her deep understanding and intentional actions, building a connection with Maia is truly special.

While Maia generally gets along well with other dogs, she thrives best in a home without other pets or children, where she can fully relax and feel secure. She has shown protective behavior over her space, including a past situation where she bit another dog that got too close to her. During this incident, she bit her caregivers while they were separating the dogs—this was an isolated situation, and outside of this, she has continued to be friendly with dogs she meets on walks and at the beach. Because of this, she needs a structured home with experienced dog guardians who understand her boundaries.

She is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations! She does well when left alone for short periods but loves having her humans around. A fenced yard or patio would be ideal so she can indulge in her favorite pastime—soaking up the sun. Maia can be sensitive to loud noises like yelling or slamming doors and will seek a quiet spot to retreat when she feels overwhelmed.

This smart, affectionate, and deeply intuitive girl is looking for a home where she can settle in, bond with her humans, and continue to enjoy life at her own pace. If you’re ready for a loyal, sun-loving, adventure-seeking companion, Maia could be the perfect fit!
