What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: His favorite activity is going on trail runs. He's a very fit and active 8 year old dog and can handle 10+ mile runs no problem when it's the right temperature. He loves any outdoor activity to explore, walks/hikes, and fetch in the yard, lake, or river. He loves chewing on bones and squeaker toys and proudly destroying stuffed toys. He also appreciates the relaxing moments in life like sunbathing in the summer sun and curling up by the fire in the winter.
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?: Yes
What commands does your dog know?: All of the basic commands: come, sit, stay, leave it, lay down, wait, ok, kennel up or go to your bed
Has your dog ever exhibited any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, could you please share some details about the situation?: Heineken does not understand small children and infants. He gets stressed or too excitable when they are crying or screaming and running around. There was one incident with our baby who was about 5 months at the time where he displayed aggression vocally and snapped at him. He did not inflict harm, but it was a warning to us and he lost our trust to be around him. He has never shown any aggression towards adults and is very friendly and loving towards people. He can be unpredictable with other dogs, especially off leash. He can be very playful and friendly with the right dog, but feel very threatened and territorial around other dogs for some reason. He typically likes female dogs more than males, but given the right personality match gets along well with some male dogs as well. Across the board he seems to hate huskys.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: He is very independent and confident being left alone. He typically isnt left home alone for more than 8 hours but has gone longer without any accidents or destruction. He roams free in the house when we are gone and can be left alone in the car without any problems.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: He can be a bit sensitive sometimes. If something falls near him or startles him he gets very scared and timid to go near where the incident happened for a little bit. He also dislikes motorcycles and large/loud vehicles driving by him on walks. He shows this anxiety by barking and lunging towards the vehicle. Heineken is very in tune with his family's stress and emotional state and appears on edge when we are on edge.
Is there a particular routine that works best for your dog in terms of feeding, walking, and sleep?: He is very adaptable to our schedule. He gets up when we get up. He eats morning and evening, usually gets a run or a walk or two every day then spends most of the afternoon sleeping. He puts himself to bed after dinner usually and likes to sleep in his kennel which we just leave open.

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?: We started giving him low dose Fluoxetine prescribed by his vet before the baby was born to try to help relax him and help with the transition. He does seem generally calmer and less bothered by cars driving by and things like that during the day so we have kept him on it. He could just be calmer as he gets older and we have considered taking him off of it but haven't yet.
How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? : He gets baths periodically based on activities. More in the summer. He tolerates nail trimming ok and we just do it on an as needed basis.
Does your dog have any dental care routines (e.g., brushing, chews, professional cleanings)? : He does a lot of chewing on bones and hasn't had any dental problems
