River

Meet River, a bouncy and affectionate two-year-old Golden Retriever–Labrador mix from Choctaw, OK, who’s all about fun, friendship, and full-speed tail wags!

At around 70 pounds, River is a handsome, cream-colored companion with a heart as big as his energy level. This lovable guy is ready to bring sunshine and excitement to a home that can keep up with his playful pace. Whether he's chasing after toys, romping with other dogs, or just soaking up the attention from his people, River’s zest for life is contagious! He’s especially great with children and other dogs, making him a joyful addition to an active family or a multi-pup household.

River is kennel-trained, house-trained, and thrives on a routine that includes plenty of walks and playtime. While he hasn’t had formal obedience training yet and might occasionally chew when he’s bored, his eagerness to engage and his love for toys make him a great candidate for positive reinforcement training. He may have a stubborn streak now and then—hey, he’s still learning—but he’s also full of love and loyalty.

This sweet boy is fully vaccinated, neutered, and in great health. He hasn’t shown signs of anxiety or stress and handles being left alone in his crate like a champ. And while his feelings about cats remain a bit of a mystery, River’s friendly nature and positive doggy interactions suggest he could adjust well with proper introductions.

River is part of a bonded pair with his sister, Pita—a Husky–Golden Retriever mix. They’ve been inseparable for the past year and thrive in each other’s company. While they'd love to find a home together, they can be adopted separately if the right caring, active families step forward.

Is your home ready for the happy cuddles and companionship of a goofy, golden-hearted pup like River?
