I found this Great Pyrenees wandering around a while ago. He looked in bad shape, so I fed him and gave him some water. I saw him again later, still wondering, so I tried to find his home, but no one claimed him.
I couldn't find his home or a new home, but he is aggressive to one of my other, much smaller dogs. I have to keep them separate now, and it's a hassle.
Duke is a really good outside guard dog, and I think he would be a good Livestock Guardian Dog (LSD). I say think because he is older and hasn't been raised around many animals, but he does fine around my chickens.
He likes being outside and protecting the yard. He really shines during the nighttime and is ready to be on guard all night, any weather. This does involve him barking, but I feel very secure from animals and intruders with Dukie boy on watch.
He is a guard, an outside dog, but he still wants connection. I spend a lot of time outside with him, and he is happy to lie down outside while I work. I am looking for someone who would be in a similar situation, wants a guard dog for the home and animals outside, but likes to spend time with he dog.
He is a strong-willed dog, and he i`s a big boy, so I think it would take someone who knows their way around a dog. I think you will have to build your trust with him, but he will make a loyal and productive dog.
