Jake the Cartoon Dog
I rescued Jake in September on what was to be his last day on earth as an unwanted stray at the Downey Animal Control Center in LA. A seven-month-old Siberian Husky puppy, he had been at the shelter for a month after being found alone in a field after being hit by a car. His only injury was a broken leg. They had put a crude splint on the leg but after a few weeks with no adoption interest shown, he was tagged for euthanasia.
I rescued Jake with no other thought than to just save his life and have spent the past few months rehabbing him – his leg, his health, and his outlook. Now it’s time to find him a forever home. Keeping him not an option given my age and health.
Jake needs a home where he can burn off all his playful energy and get the attention he deserves after such a tough start to his young life. He’s chipped, neutered, has all his shots, and is fully recovered from his broken leg. He is extremely intelligent, very energetic, and fun-loving. He’s fully socialized with other dogs and loves to find the fastest ones to run with at the dog park.
Jake is kennel trained and takes his meals there when needed. He’s pee-pad trained and is on the road to being completely housebroken. Noe a one-year-old, he’s just mid-way through his leash training. He’s learned to fetch a tennis ball and loves the idea of doing that as much as he can. Like most other Huskies, Jake has some funny idiosyncrasies, like putting one foot in his water dish while drinking water. Makes for lots of laughs. I call him my cartoon dog.
Jake belongs in a home where he can get plenty of exercise and a bunch of love – and would do great either as a solo dog or as one of the family pack. If you’re thinking about adopting a dog like Jake, he’s worth a look.
