Meet Royal!
If you love cuddling, kisses, and play time, then Royal is the girl for you! She is by far one of the most affectionate dogs and has the sweetest little personality. Her ideal day is full of walkies and sniffs in the sunshine, tossing her stuffies around, and then ending the night snuggled on the couch with her family. She absolutley LOVES dinner time and will jump in circles when she's excited - it's actually so precious. She's active when you want her to be and loves to romp around and play, but she's also happy to be a couch potato for most of the day, where she'll nest into the pillows. When she wants attention or play time, she'll put her paw onto your foot and stare up at you with her big eyes.
She can be shy with new people and prefers to approach people on her own before they pet her - but give her an hour to get comfortable and she'll be everyone's best friend. Royal and her foster mom are working on perfecting her leash manners and some mild separation anxiety, but she's a smart girl (also very food motivated) who's already come so far. She's about 50 pounds, not much of a barker, fully potty trained, crate trained, and never chews on anything (though she's been known to de-fluff a stuffy or two). Please reach out if you think she'd be a good fit for your family!

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?:

Has your dog received any formal obedience training?:
Yes
What commands does your dog know?:
We're currently working with a trainer to expand her knowledge but she knows "sit" and "go lay down" which means she'll go lay in her crate.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?:
She has some mild separation anxiety but we are working on it and she can be left home for about an hour before she starts to whine and pace.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?:
Nothing specific, she is just a bit timid and nervous in general but is very eager to meet new people, she just has to do it slowly.
Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?:
She's quite easy going but enjoys a midday small meal in the snuffle mat and a larger dinner in the evening. We take her on 2 walks a day, 1 at lunch and 1 after work plus a morning and evening potty break (we live in an apartment).

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?:
No
Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.:
She is leash reactive and has some barrier aggression on the leash but off leash, she gets along with other dogs. She can be timid and doesn't like to be pet without warning or approached suddenly and will growl at people who do so. This applies to kids as well but she has met a few kids who she adores and is so patient with, once she's gotten comfortable with them. We're working on all of these behaviors with a trainer.
How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? :
Normal bathing and nail trimming. She is short haired and doesn't shed very much.
Does your dog have a dental care routine (e.g., brushing, chews, professional cleanings)?:

How is your dog with cats?:
Not sure: Haven't had enough interaction to determine.
What's the most endearing thing about your dog?:
She is by far the most affectionate dog I've ever met. She is an absolute cuddle bug but she can also be so silly and playful, it's so precious.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
Patience. She's one of the best dogs I've ever met but since she can be shy with new people, she needs a family who respects that. She very much wants to be people's friends and is so curious about strangers but needs the space to approach you first.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
She'd make such a wonderful addition to any family. She has such great energy levels, she'll run around the park and toss her toys around but then will be contented to lay on the couch all night with you.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Pet Parent Passed Away
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
Her original owners were my sister and her boyfriend. Her boyfriend unexpectedly passed away and my sister was forced out of her housing and could not keep her. I have been fostering her since and unfortunately, cannot keep her permanently.
If applicable, do you have the legal right or necessary permission from the breeder or rescue organization to rehome this pet? :
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?:
Not an option, my pet will stay with me for as long as it takes
What do you feed your pet, and does he/she have any feeding quirks or preferences?:
Kibble mixed with Just Food for Dogs wet food. No quirks or preferences, except that she doesn't like fish anything and seems to favor chicken treats. She is very food motivated!

No
