Nola is a loving and affectionate girl who’s happiest when she's exploring or cuddling up with her family. She thrives on love and interaction, so she would do better in a home with older children who can engage with her more actively.
Her personality is a sweet mix of independence and affection. While she can be a little aloof at times, especially when it comes to her space and food, she’s overall very loving and attentive to the people in her life, especially if they’re giving her the attention she craves.
Nola is pretty mellow in the mornings and early part of the day, especially when the household is busy with work. She’s content to relax and hang out during this time, but as the day goes on, her energy increases.
Nola has a bit of a watchful side, often sitting on the couch to gaze out the window, keeping an eye on the neighborhood. She will bark at any passing dogs, the mailman, or Amazon deliveries as a way of alerting you to what’s going on outside. Her bark serves as a warning, rather than a protective guard.
She’s also very good about letting you know when she needs to go out, and she’ll head to the door to signal it.
Nola is a smart and eager learner, especially when treats are involved! She knows several basic commands, including sit, down, spin, high five, and sometimes stay. However, she tends to need a little motivation to follow through, so she does best when there’s a tasty reward involved. She has attended basic obedience training when she was first adopted, but she would benefit from more consistent training and clear boundaries, particularly around things like not pulling on the leash.
Nola is also very good with grooming. She enjoys one-on-one time during grooming sessions and is happy to be brushed and have her nails trimmed. While she can sometimes get a little anxious, she calms down quickly and just needs some gentle affection and reassurance to help her relax.
Nola has a low-maintenance coat that doesn’t shed excessively, making grooming fairly easy. She rarely has any odor and is overall a very clean dog, which is a bonus for her future family. While she enjoys her grooming sessions and does well with brushing and nail trims, her coat doesn’t require a lot of attention beyond regular brushing to keep it looking great.
She’s generally healthy and in good condition, with no major medical concerns at this time. However, she would benefit from more consistent training and socialization to help manage some of her reactivity to other animals, as well as further refine her leash manners.
She would do best in a home with space for her to roam and explore — either a larger yard or an active family who enjoys outdoor adventures like hikes or long walks. Nola would thrive with someone who can help her with more consistent socialization.
We’re looking for an adopter who can continue to help Nola build her confidence and give her the attention, structure, and adventures she craves. She’s truly a special dog, and with the right home, we know she will thrive and bring endless joy to whoever is lucky enough to welcome her in.

She has had a few interactions with dogs in the past where they were fighting and had to be separated but i'm not sure what set it off. She is reactive to other dogs on walks but her tail is usually wagging and she seems more eager to interact than it coming from an aggressive nature.
