Pepper

Meet Pepper, a sweet and snuggly almost five-year-old gray tabby from Houston, TX, whose heart is as soft as the blankets she loves to burrow under!

Pepper is the ultimate companion cat—gentle, affectionate, and always nearby, ready to be part of whatever you're doing. Whether she's curled up in your lap, peeking out from under a cozy blanket, or stretching out for a belly rub, this little lady thrives on companionship and comfort. And don’t be surprised if she follows you from room to room—Pepper isn’t just a cat, she’s your shadow with whiskers!

At around 12 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized cuddle buddy, and while she’s mostly chill and low-energy, she definitely has her silly moments—especially in the evenings when she gets the zoomies or pounces around with her toys. Her mealtime enthusiasm is unmatched (it’s truly the highlight of her day), and she lets you know she’s happy with little chirps that will absolutely steal your heart—especially when she does her signature “flop-and-stretch” for attention.

Pepper is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, and litter-trained. She does require a special diet and daily probiotic due to chronic GI issues, but with her prescription food and routine, she’s doing wonderfully! She’s a strictly indoor kitty and would do best in a calm, quiet home without other pets or young children. Pepper is timid at first and needs time to feel safe in new surroundings, but once she’s comfortable, she blossoms into a snuggly, loyal little buddy.

New people and busy environments can be overwhelming for her, but if visitors are calm and patient, Pepper will emerge from her hiding spot to investigate—and eventually offer her affection to familiar faces. She’s curious but cautious, and needs a safe, tidy home since she’s known to nibble on things like plants, ribbons, and left-out snacks.

Are you ready to share your life—and your blanket—with a cat who just wants to love and be loved?

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: Pepper would do best in a loving home that can give her all the attention she wants, without young children or other cats and dogs. She is an indoor cat only.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Pepper is scared of new people and environments at first but she will warm up when given time and space to explore on her own. When strangers come to the house, she will come out to meet them after a bit of time if people are sitting down/not super loud. Once other people visit multiple times she will get used to them and come out more quickly. She will eat unsafe non-food items (ex. plants, strings, ribbons, etc) and people food if they are left out, so she needs to be in a home that can prevent access to these things.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Pet Behavior
Rehoming reason details (if necessary): She is typically a sweet cat, but has been showing signs of aggression since my baby was born, leading to her scratching my 3 month old baby’s face while I was feeding the baby. Because of this, I have to prioritize my child’s safety and sadly cannot keep her.
