Dover

Meet Dover – Loyal, Affectionate, Looking for a Child-Free Home

Dover is a loving and loyal 8-year-old neutered male pitbull who has been part of our family for the last 6 years. He has a calm, affectionate temperament and absolutely loves attention and being petted. Dover is fully house-trained, free to roam indoors without issues, and enjoys lounging in comfortable spots around the home.

Dover has completed professional training and has successfully navigated outings to public places like Lowe’s. He walks well on leash and knows basic commands. He is up to date on all vaccinations and in overall great health, though he does require a specific grain-free Purina diet due to food allergies. He also takes Trazodone for separation anxiety, which helps him remain calm when left alone.

Important Note: Dover has shown resource guarding behavior. He bit our daughter when she entered the pantry while he was guarding his treat bones, resulting in a bite that required stitches. He also nipped a neighbor once in a high-stress situation and has bitten another dog over food. Because of this, Dover cannot go to a home with children (living or visiting) and would do best in a home without other pets, particularly to avoid food-related incidents.

We believe Dover would thrive with an experienced dog owner or a couple who can offer a calm, structured environment and respect his boundaries around food. In return, he will be a loyal companion, always ready for cuddles and calm evenings by your side.

If you're looking for a devoted, lower-energy dog who just wants love and consistency, Dover may be the perfect fit.
