Blue

Blue is such a sweet and loving boy. He is easily trained, pretty low maintenance once he’s comfortable in his home, and becomes obsessed with his person. He is a great guard dog for that reason. He is so playful and loves his toys, tug of war, fetch, water and sun bathing. His favorite way to expel energy is by running in large open spaces. I’ve taken him to the dog park for years and we’ve never had an issue with other dogs. He also loves bike rides, hikes, the beach or water, and car rides. Due to some life changes, Blue has developed some anxiety toward people and territorial aggression towards select dogs when I’m around. We have done behavioral training and regular dog walks but there’s nothing I can do about the environmental change he’s experienced. He is so cuddly and always seeking to sit by my, or my sons, side. He is great with my son after proper introduction in the beginning. However, can be selective with other kids depending on their energy level and boundaries. Blue will definitely take some work with getting use to another new environment, trusting people and will thrive in a calm, single dog home. He is very smart and food driven, which makes him easily trainable with treats.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?: He is very cuddly, sweet and loving. He just wants affection and to lay by your side or on your lap. He loves forehead kisses and his belly scratched. His favorite is to sleep on the foot of the bed. He’s very loyal and protective of his person.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: He definitely needs a home with a yard or some sort of outdoor space where he can hang outside. If not, someone who can spend a lot of time with him outdoors on run/walk/hikes, beach or parks. I wouldn’t suggest young children just because he doesn’t like the high energy and will jump and knock them down. Best would be a calm home with not too many people or other pets.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: He really just wants his person, preferably a man in my opinion, who can be his alpha leader who he can trust and love and have fun with. He is so smart and loyal and loves to play. He has so much potential but he has some trust issues and it just takes time for him to be comfortable again and back to himself before the agression.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Housing is Inadequate for Pet
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): Due to a move, we no longer have a backyard or outdoor space for him. He spends most of his time indoors with minimal sunlight while I’m working. This has caused a lot of behavioral issues (understandable!) and its just not fair to him. I’m a single mom with another small dog and I can no longer put time and money into constant training and dog walkers. It’s unfortunate but there’s nothing I can do to help with the environment change for him, and I know the right person has a better option for him where he can thrive and heal these issues he’s developed from it. As long as they can take the time to allow him to be comfortable to another new environment.
