Meet Akash, a gentle and thoughtful two-and-a-half-year-old mixed breed dog from Myrtle Beach, SC, whose soulful eyes and snowy white coat make him an unmistakably handsome companion! This sweet-natured boy is searching for his next loving home where he can feel secure and cherished.
Akash has a special kind of tenderness that shines through once he feels safe. Timid by nature, he’s more likely to shy away than confront, especially when meeting new dogs. He tends to feel a bit nervous around food and in chaotic environments, so he’s hoping to find a peaceful, child-free home where he can decompress and build trust at his own pace.
This affectionate pup adores stuffed animals and finds great comfort in cuddling up with them during quiet moments. Akash is at his happiest when he’s snuggled up with someone who understands his need for patience and gentle affection. Though a little skittish, he’s far from aloof—once he feels comfortable, he’s quick to seek out pets and cozy companionship.
Having received some obedience training, Akash knows useful commands like “Sit,” “Here,” “Stay,” and “Down.” He’s crate trained, house-trained, vaccinated, and neutered, making him well-prepared to transition smoothly into his new home! Walks are especially beneficial for his anxiety, allowing him to explore at his own pace while enjoying some one-on-one time with his caregiver.
Akash does well when left alone for short periods, often taking the opportunity to rest. While he’s friendly with strangers and enjoys the company of cats, he’s more cautious around other dogs—preferring to keep interactions low-key and unhurried.
It’s important to note that Akash has shown reactive behavior around food, especially when feeling overwhelmed. On one occasion, he bit when startled and this occurred when he was in close proximity to a young child. This behavior likely stemmed from his anxiety and discomfort in a busy environment. For this reason, Akash would do best in a calm, child-free home with a caregiver experienced in handling anxious dogs and willing to work on managing his triggers through positive reinforcement and consistency.
One of the most endearing things about Akash is his love for snuggles! Once he bonds with you, he’ll lean in for pets and rest his head on your lap, letting you know just how much your kindness means to him.
