Goose

About Me:
● I was a stray in Fresno and adopted in January 2024 at ~1yr old
● I am chipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations and potty trained!
● They call me smart, goofy, affectionate, curious, high energy (working-dog breed) & speckled like a giraffe!
● I love to lounge in the sun & can be a big cuddle bug in the evenings
● I LOVE playing with other dogs (I go to doggy day care & on pack walks twice a week)
● I am good with kids but I can be jumpy and a bit mouthy. This will pass with age.
● I have a high prey drive (cats, squirrels, birds)
● My favorite place is a 17-acre off leash dog area where I am content, confident, and playful.
I must confess though, I am pretty sensitive to city life triggers such as electric scooters, motorcycles, skateboards, rollerblades. I have been reactive with motorcycle helmets, luggage being pulled, folks using canes/walkers, skateboard sounds and people catching me off guard

Tricks/Commands:
Sit, down, come, up, off, wait, go potty, leave it, okay, back up, touch, out.
And guess what? I am:
● Crate trained
● Mat trained
● Treat motivated/quick learner
● Have good recall
● Clicker trained

My Ideal Home:
With someone who is experienced with high energy, sensitive, & situationally reactive dogs, has a large open space with a dog or two, no young children, in a rural and pretty quiet environment.
Truthfully, I am a girl who would thrive being in one place most of the time like on a farm or life in the country, in a predictable environment. Neighborhood and city walks put me on edge but I do so well when I can roam, sniff, and explore on my own with other dogs away from city life triggers. For instance, the boarder my humans take me to is a half acre backyard where I play with 5-10 dogs and have never had any reactive behavior!

About my family:
My humans love me dearly & have done everything in their power to figure out how to make our home work for us over the past 1+ year. But given my need for a life away from the city, they have come to the heartbreaking conclusion that a different environment would be best for me. My humans know I will thrive in the right place & will continue to bring people a lot of joy & sweet goofiness as I have with them. My humans will send me with my favorite things: a dog crate, my cozy bed, stuffies, enrichment toys, etc!

Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: Yes. She is pretty sensitive to city life triggers such as electric scooters, motorcycles, skateboards, rollerblades. She's been reactive towards people wearing motorcycle helmets, luggage being pulled, folks using canes/walkers, skateboard sounds and people catching her off guard

Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.: Yes, during a trail walk with her regular dog walker, a bicyclist came up behind them while on a new trail (usually walked on trails where bikes were not allowed). The bicyclist seemed to spook Goose and she bit his leg as he passed by. She immediately retreated back to her dogwalker after the bite. The bicyclist was understanding and did not report the incident so it's not on any official record

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?: She's full of personality and is very expressive with her face and body language. She's extremely goofy and can be pretty floppy and awkward when cuddling or napping. She can fall asleep in the most awkward positions. She likes staring at birds and airplanes. She tries to be a good girl and not countersurf/jump on people so she'll balance on her hind legs to check things out that are out of her normal reach
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: She would do best with someone who is experienced with sensitive & situationally reactive dogs, has a large open space with a dog or two, no young children, in a rural and pretty quiet environment.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: Goose is goofy, fun, smart, curious and full of love. She will thrive and be the best dog in the right environment. When she's in a space where she feels safe and isn't bracing for triggers, she can be pretty care-free. We have seen this first hand at her boarder where she's even able to co-exist with the farm cats
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Housing is Inadequate for Pet
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): Goose is unfortunately too stressed and anxious in our city environment. We've realized she is most comfortable and happy when she has space to roam away from her triggers
