Tomie

Playful & Loyal Only-Pet Black Kitty Companion

About Him
This handsome black kitty is at least 4 years old and has been part of our family for the past few months, after my parents lovingly cared for him for over two years. He’s been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Personality & Background
He’s a playful, affectionate companion who thrives on one-on-one attention. Unfortunately, after introducing a second cat to keep him company, he’s been acting out of jealousy—showing us that he really prefers being the sole star of the show. Our apartment is cozy and shared with my sister, which leaves him feeling a bit cramped. We want him to have the room to stretch, explore, and feel safe, so we’re seeking a quieter, more spacious home where he can truly flourish.

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?: His favorite types of toys include anything with strings, laser pointers and loves to playfight with hands (typically not too rough).
Does your cat have any amusing or peculiar habits, like 'chattering' at birds through the window or fetching toys?: He’s endlessly entertained by anything string-y—feather wands, ribbon toys, even a simple shoelace will have him stalking and batting for minutes on end. Flash a laser pointer across the floor and he transforms into a lightning bolt, zig-zagging after that elusive red dot. He also loves gentle play-fights with your hands—soft little taps and playful “wrestles” that never get too rough, just enough to keep you both smiling.
What is the most adorable thing about your cat?: He’s an absolute little cuddle bug—his favorite pastime is curling up in your lap and dozing off, and I often wake to find him sprawled across me like a furry little blanket. Even more precious, he’ll let you scoop him up in your arms like a baby, melting into your hug with total trust. Those tender moments of lap-sitting and gentle snuggles are truly the sweetest things about him!

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?: I’m looking for a home where he can be the one and only cat (referring to cats specifically as I do not know what he is like with other types of animals). He thrives when he has plenty of room to explore—cat trees, window perches or open floor space—and someone who can carve out daily playtime and cuddles. He’s also a true little gourmet: fed twice a day on a strict morning-and-evening schedule, he gets genuinely excited for mealtime. A family who can maintain that routine and shower him with attention will be the perfect match!
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: He’s a true little “shadow cat” who thrives on companionship—he’ll cheerfully trot behind you from room to room (yes, even into the bathroom!). He can be a bit chatty when he wants your attention, offering a soft “meow” until you give him pets or playtime. With a family who can include him in their daily routine and shower him with affection, he’ll repay you with endless loyalty and love.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Incompatible with Other Pets
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): He’s become quite stressed living with his female kitty companion—he doesn’t enjoy her company and has started overgrooming himself out of anxiety and jealousy. To protect his well-being and help him relax, he needs a calm, single-pet household where he can feel secure and get all the love (and lap time!) he craves.
If applicable, do you have the legal right or necessary permission from the breeder or rescue organization to rehome this pet? :
Not Applicable
Yes
How long will you be able to keep your pet before you may need to consider surrendering him or her to a rescue?: Not an option, my pet will stay with me for as long as it takes
Who is your veterinarian?: Animal Care Center of Hays County
What do you feed your pet, and does he/she have any feeding quirks or preferences?: He’s on a simple yet reliable diet of Purina dry food—served twice a day—and he really thrives on that routine. He’s very food-motivated and will happily “remind” you when mealtime rolls around, so a timed automatic feeder may work wonders to keep him on schedule (and saves you the alarm clock!). As a bonus, he also loves the occasional wet-food topper or small puzzle-style treat dispenser to engage his brain and mimic that little hunter’s instinct.
Do you currently have pet insurance?: No
Would you consider a long-distance adoption?:
Yes
No
