Nala

Meet Nala, a devoted seven-and-a-half-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier from sunny San Diego, CA, whose heart is as golden as her soft tan coat! This loving, soulful girl has spent nearly every moment of her life being a faithful companion, emotional support dog, and loyal best friend. Nala is now ready to begin a new chapter with her next caring guardian who can give her the time, attention, and outdoor adventures she loves.

Nala is calm, affectionate, and deeply intuitive, she’s the type of pup who will gently rest her head on your lap, lean into hugs, and stay close by your side. She’s wonderful with people of all ages, including children, and brings a quiet comfort to everyone she meets! While she prefers to be the only pet in the home, it’s not out of aggression, it’s just that other dogs can overwhelm her, and she tends to bark or squeal with excitement when she sees them. With a peaceful, pet-free home, Nala will flourish and fill your days with cuddles, loyalty, and laughter.

She weighs about 65 pounds and is currently on a light diet due to reduced walks, something she dearly misses. She’s fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, house-trained, and wonderfully well-mannered. She no longer needs a crate but enjoys having one nearby as her cozy den. Nala handles alone time well, often napping until her person returns.

Fireworks and thunder can stress her, but with your gentle voice and comforting presence, she quickly settles down. She recently recovered beautifully from a surgery in July of last year and is now healthy and ready for her next adventure! Her dream home includes a yard to explore, someone familiar with pit bulls, and a heart open to making her a true part of the family.

Sleeps inside. She is not an outside dog , she is inside like the rest of the family. Someone familiar with pit bulls and will dedicate themselves to her for the rest of her life with them and never re home her. Treat her with kindness and not yell at her. Be patient as she will be sad at first I have had her since she was 8wks old. Keep in touch once in a while send me updates and pics to give me peace of mind to know she is safe and loved . All she wants is to love and be loved and it’s what she deserves , the best love of a family.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: She gets reactive to other dogs, she gets very excited and starts to bark/cry and sounds like a squealing pig when she sees other dogs. She’s not aggressive but she is reactive but with distraction and redirection with a treat she does well. She would be best as only dog/pet in the home . Nala has been thru a lot, She does have a story and I’m happy to tell it to serious inquiries only.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Pet Parent Illness
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): I wish I didn’t have to as this is very heartbreaking for me, due to physical disability I am unable to take her on her daily walks anymore. I can’t afford a dog walker. I can not get her down the stairs safely to take her out as I have already fallen. She needs her walks and exercise to be healthy both physically and mentally. She has been using puppy pads in the house and stares out the window watching other dogs pass by getting walks and she cries and it just breaks my heart. I’m letting her go for her best interest not mine. She has also gained some weight because of not going on her daily walks. I am also no longer able to bathe her she is too heavy for me. My disability doesn’t allow it.
