Mixon

This is Mixon, named after the mailman who found him (someone had dumped him as a 4 month old puppy). He's super obedient, has been neutered, is up to date on all his vet visits, shots and heart and flea prevention medicine. We took him in about two years ago, he has a sweet soul. He is crate trained and loves to be outdoors (when the weather is not super hot). We are needing to rehome him because he and our other male dog (that came to us 3 days prior to his arrival) have started fighting. He generally has a calm and sweet temperament. We assume the fighting is because they're two males raised as littermates and we have a neighbor who's a breeder with dogs in heat often. He's not a snuggler but loves pets and treats. Hes also super good with our chickens and turkeys. Let us know if you're interested in meeting this amazing guy!

Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?: Eats around 7/8am, goes outside, coming inside during the hot summer afternoons- he goes straight to his kennel, then we give him dinner about 7/8pm and he goes back outside until about 10 or 11pm at which point he comes back inside to his kennel to sleep for the night. (Since the fighting we've been taking him on a walk in the morning, the afternoon and after dinner and he does pretty well with that as well)

Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.: He has started fights with our other male dog who we'd raised as littermates. I think it stems from a combination of that, 2 year old hormone changes, anxiety/possibly eCollar training that shifted his nervous system a bit- we had a dog trainer come out and do chicken aversion training, and having female dogs in heat nearby. My husband has been working with them and is able to walk them together but they were recently(accidentally) left alone with food together at a boarding facility and got into another fight.
How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? : Never really, unless he's gotten super muddy: then we'll give him a bath

I hope for someone who creates a beautiful bond of trust and love and who can have compassion for him when he's feeling a bit anxious. He would likely do best as the only dog
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: He has such a beautiful heart. Hes incredibly loyal and just needs to be loved and cared for. He was dumped as a puppy and I just hope that he finds his forever family who wants to keep him in their hearts and home for his lifetime
