NEED TO REHOME A SWEETHEART OF A DOG
I adopted Harper about a year ago, from a local rescue, but she's just never really settled in with my family -- or I guess in some ways I've never really settled in with her. She's a very sweet, mixed-breed dog who gets along well with other dogs and adults. I think she would get along well with older children after getting to know them -- she's a bit shy when she first gets to know people, and I think small children would be a bit of a shock to her at first, but I think she'd adjust.
Our problem here is that, while I have another dog, she was raised in a cage at a puppy mill and just honestly doesn't know how to play. Harper desperately wants another dog, preferably medium-sized, who would enjoy racing around the backyard tumbling around and playing. She and I have never figured out a way to play -- she doesn't seem to be able to learn how to fetch a ball, or a stick, and though she's ecstatic when I go out in the backyard with her, neither of us can come up with a way to play with the other.
I just don't think she's living her best life with me, and I often look over at her and just feel guilty and like she's just in the wrong home. I know the right home with a fun, medium-sized (or even large) dog is out there for her!
I did have her breed evaluated by Embark, and it turns out she's 26 % Lab; 23% Supermutt (which includes Bullmastiff/Neapolitan Mastiff/Great Pyrenees/ and American Bulldog; 14% Chow; 13% Cane Corso; 7% American Foxhound; 7% Golden Retriever; 6% Rottweiler; and 4% German Shepherd Dog!
