This dog was given to me temporarily by one of my mom's good friends who is a elderly lady in Florida. she drove it all the way here even though she knew I could not keep him. She gave him up because this was her boyfriend's dog, who moved into an apartment that does not allow pets. She trusted me and knew he would be safe and that I would pass him along to someone who would love him and take good care of him. He is a sweetheart, very calm and loves children
He got along with her Chihuahua and gets along very well with my golden retriever. He does well with dogs that are not aggressive. He does know how to be on the leash and walk along someone who is bike riding, he seems to enjoy that. He really needs a fenced in yard because otherwise he will run if not on the leash.. He cannot be near chickens I have chickens and that breed could possibly kill chickens. I don't believe he has ever been around cats so not sure how that would go. He is housebroken and when I leave the house he has full rein. He has never gotten in any trouble whatsoever. He does not destroy or tear things. (Aside from his toys aka stuffed animal. He knows how to "lay down" to get a treat. He loves going for a car ride to get a pup cup. Honestly if I didn't have chickens he would be the most perfect dog. He loves the neighbor children and is very good. He would never bite anyone he is very loving.
He was named Roscoe but I call him Rascal

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
He really does need a fenced in yard because without one he can get off his leash and go into the road. He really would be great with a child that would run in the yard with him because he runs with my son when he's home from college he takes him on the leash and runs in the backyard we have one plus acres but he's also very laid back when he is in the house, a very calm demeanor
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
The reason I'm using this forum is because I couldn't bear the thought of such a sweet dog going to somebody who would abuse him. He is a very sweet sensitive soul
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Foster Pet
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
I took him on a very temporary basis to help out my mom's elderly friend in florida. I really didn't want to but she was so insistent and she knew that I would try to find him a good home. I already have a Golden Retriever and made it very clear that I did not want another dog and I raised chickens so that is not compatible with his breed
