Ramona

We found her on the street—dirty, scared, and in need of care. Since then, she’s been spayed, microchipped, vetted, and has been to the groomer.

She has a sensitive stomach, so we make her food at home—usually chicken or another protein with veggies like carrots, sweet potatoes, celery, squash, and rice. We cook it in batches, and it lasts about five days in the fridge.

She’s about 3.5 years old, 40 lbs, and the vet believes she’s a purebred Husky (just on the smaller side), though we have not confirmed this. She’s sweet, playful, and affectionate—loves the dog park, walks, hikes, and running in the yard. She does best with bigger dogs. She has never howled, we’re not sure why, but has barked on occasion briefly.

The only reason we’re rehoming her is because I took a job in San Diego and my husband and I have relocated and cannot take her with us. We, sadly, just don’t have the time to give her the attention she needs and deserves. We love her deeply and want her to have the best life possible with someone who can give her the time, space, and love she needs.

She is currently with a temporary foster and we need to find her a forever home as soon as we can.

What commands does your dog know?: She knows to sit, stay, and generally comes when called.
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?: Short periods are fine but she seems to have separation anxiety so she can be destructive if left alone for long periods. We have to crate her when we are not home.
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?: Fireworks make her anxious. Other than that just the separation anxiety/being left alone too long
Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?: We feed her twice a day, walk her first thing when we wake up and a few times throughout the day and before bed. She sleeps in her crate (she runs in when she knows we’re about to go to bed, we rarely have to say “Crate”, but she knows to go in there when we do). We haven’t trained her other than to “stay”, so we assume her previous owner did before abandoning her.

Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?: We love her deeply but had no intentions of having a dog due to our schedules. We only took her in because she was abandoned on the street and we were afraid a shelter would euthanize her because she is a Husky in LA
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?: Moving
Details about rehoming reason (if needed): As mentioned, we had no intentions of having a dog because we know we don’t have the time for one. Now we have moved to San Diego and cannot take her with us, sadly. She is with a temporary foster family for now.
