Meet Lola, a 3-year-old pitbull/boxer mix whose facial expressions, vocalizations, and playfulness makes us laugh every day. This sweet, silly girl loves playing fetch, tug, and hide and seek. She's easy going, is overjoyed at the sight of a new sweater, and plays dress-up like a pro. She loves puzzles and her kong wobbler and the scent of peanut butter brings her running--she'll sit and lick her lips in anticipation. She can't be with other dogs but LOVES humans. Lola is house-trained, crate, leash, and muzzle trained; enjoys practicing her known commands (sit, stay, lay down, come, paw, high five, dance, off/take it, go find it, go to bed, go outside/inside+); and doesn't bark.
We found Lola roaming the streets a couple winters ago, scrawny and scared. We took her in, got her healthy, and trained her. She has no major health issues, but has allergies (dust mite, sycamore trees) and is prone to ear infections. Managing allergies reduces infections. Her vet friends praise her for her behavior - she readily hops on the scale and knows the difference between playtime and exam time. She can't help her happy tail whooshing, but otherwise settles down like a champ.
We’re excited to find Lola her forever home where she can continue to be the center of someone’s world. She’ll come with all her toys, bedding and supplies. She would thrive in a home with children to play with or doting women and a fenced in backyard to run. And if you let her on the couch with you, she'll never leave your side.
She's best appreciated in action, so please watch her video and let her show you all the reasons your family should love me as much as she'll love you! https://youtu.be/Q8-gDJE23Go

What are your pet's favorite toys and activities?:
Lola loves playing fetch, tug, and hide and seek--with people or toys. She LOVES all plush toys, but we only let her play with them while supervised given her propensity to destroy them. She has lots of rubber toys and rope toys for unsupervised play.
Has your dog received any formal obedience training?:
Yes
What commands does your dog know?:
Learns commands well and enjoys practicing them! So far, she knows: sit, stay, lay down, okay (release word), no, come, paw/other pay, high five/other high five, dance, off (dont touch) / take it / thank you (give it to me), hide and seek: go find it (toy) / where am I, ouch/game over (if she touches you with her mouth, signifies end of game), go to bed, go outside (bathroom)/inside
How does your dog react to being left alone for short periods?:
fine
Are there any specific triggers that cause your dog anxiety or stress?:
Primary stressors include other dogs and fireworks
Is there a daily routine that works well for your dog (feeding, walking, sleep)?:
Yes - she's currently on a very structured schedule--am: let out of crate, breakfast, bathroom, play time; pm: feeding, bathroom; late pm: bathroom, play time, bed time (crate). Does best on a routine, will likely adapt to other routines. When at sitters, accustomed to using a doggy door to go to the bathroom as needed..

Does your pet have any history of health issues or medical conditions that potential adopters should be aware of?:
Lola suffers from chornic allergies (allergy tested) making her prone to ear infections. Allergens include dust mite, yeast, and sycamore trees. Allergy shots have reduced infections and AKC insurance (only insurance currently covering chronic allergies) covers majority of vet bills.

How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? :
~5-8 weeks (bath, nail trim). She naturally has longer nail quicks, so nails look long and require more frequent nail trimming. Currently goes to the groomer, but could be washed/have nails trimmed at home.

What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
