Josie came from the shelter a few months ago at about 9 months old. We were told she was 2 years old at adoption, however the vet soon confirmed she was significantly younger. Josie is fun and sweet, and wonderful with people, including children. She’s very affectionate and really seems to think she’s a lap dog. She does not get along well with other dogs, though, and this is the problem. We love Josie, and we have done everything we can to try and keep her. She spent a week with a trainer and came back much calmer and more attentive, and she’s great with all the basic commands, however she is still reactive when it comes to other animals. We have three older dogs and have to keep Josie separated from them, when this fun-loving, young dog really should have the ability to roam freely throughout the house and yard. She needs to be the only pet in a loving, engaged household.
Josie will come with her vet records as well as her supplies, such as food, harness, and kennel, if desired.

Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.:
Josie can be food and toy aggressive towards other dogs. She also becomes triggered if she feels threatened by them (even innocent “back off” growls). She has bitten two other dogs that I know of.
How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? :
She stays remarkably clean, but she does enjoy being brushed often. Her nails also grow quickly and need to be trimmed every 6 weeks or so.

She’s the most affectionate Doberman I’ve ever owned. She loves to cuddle, sit on laps, and nap as close to people as possible.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
She really should be someone’s only pet, or at least with someone who knows how to control large, strong dogs. She also needs to be in a home that provides an outlet for her energy.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
Josie is confident and very smart. She learns quickly and is always proud to show off her skills. She’s great with kids, although she’s an oversized kid herself, so she can become excited and too playful.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Incompatible with Other Pets
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
We have three older dogs, and I don’t feel safe with Josie around them. She has bitten other dogs and really should be the only pet in a home.
