Jasmine

Jasmine is a ~4-year-old mixed lab breed who was found as a stray in New Jersey and has been living in NYC for the past 3 years. This affectionate and playful girl is eager to trade city life for more space in the suburbs or countryside where she can run and play all day long.

My Ideal Home
Jasmine would thrive in a home that provides both structure and activity. She has an energetic personality and requires regular exercise and training via positive reinforcement. She is best suited for an adult-only home who is outdoorsy and has experience with high energy dogs, bonus points if you’re looking for a training dog as Jasmine LOVES to learn new things.

My Ideal Routine
First up is our morning walk or time outside where we play fetch. Then I eat breakfast and nap for a few hours while you work. In the afternoon we go on a walk or outside again, with another play session; I love tug, or more fetch! Then I’ll take another nap. Around 5pm we work on tricks and training before an evening walk or yard time. Then I eat dinner after which I’m ready to chill for the rest of the night; I’ll cuddle on the couch, rest in my bed, or I’ll put myself to bed early in my crate. I like to sleep all night in my crate.

Good with Kids?
Jasmine has never interacted with a child but would do best in a home without children due to her excitable nature and tendency to jump up on new visitors. She can also be sensitive about what areas you touch her if she doesn’t trust you yet, so she needs someone who understands how to help her respect her boundaries.

Good with Other Dogs?
Jasmine has had mixed reactions to other dogs, sometimes greeting small dogs with a loose, wiggly body but for most big dogs she’ll bark and lunge on the leash. She would do best as the only dog in the home.

Good with Cats?
Unknown-she has only met older cats in bodegas but has never gotten close enough for us to know. She might do well with a kitten where they can grow up together.

Leash Manners
Jasmine is used to leash walking in the city, but still pulls when she’s excited. She can be strong on the leash and can be reactive toward dogs and small animals (squirrels!) while walking. She responds very well to reward-based training to manage her behavior. She is used to clicker training and knows “heel” but has a hard time staying in that position for very long.

Overall Health
She has no ongoing medical concerns, is up to date on shots, and we have maintained a very healthy weight of around 50 pounds consistently.

Fun Fact
Jasmine is VERY smart, she knows a lot of words/commands and wants to learn more. People are always impressed with how many commands she knows like “back up”, “focus”, “this side” or “around”, and so many more. Plus she knows some hand signals for these as well. If you’re looking for a dog you can easily train, or try new tricks with this is the girl for you!

If you're looking for a fun-loving, affectionate dog who will bring energy and joy into your life, Jasmine could be the perfect match for you!
