A New Home for Moxie
After an amazing 7 years of companionship and love, we reached the difficult decision
to rehome our sweet girl, Moxie. We welcomed a new baby to our family last year, and it
has become increasingly clear that Moxie deserves a quieter, peaceful environment
without a busy toddler.
Moxie is an eight-year old Korean Jindo rescued from South Korea’s Gupo Meat Market
in 2019 by Humane Society International. (See coverage of the meat market liberation
here, Moxie is the dog seen interacting with the volunteer at 0:04 —
https://youtu.be/e0WuFDYWNzs?si=G2-whWp7tfVW_oWk) Despite her rocky start,
she is the ultimate companion and adores her humans. She loves taking walks on a
long leash, licking up cream cheese, getting pets from kids at the bus stop, and chasing
the neighborhood bunnies. She enjoys nothing more than sitting next to you and
nudging you to get head scratches.
Because of her early life, Moxie definitely prefers life as a “one-and-only” pet — no need
to share the scratches with others! She loves exploring the outdoors, particularly when it
involves finding critters, so a good strong hand on the leash is a must. She likes having
her own space when she’s eating or playing with a new toy, but she responds
wonderfully to routine and structure. While Moxie’s ideal family doesn’t have small
children, she does beautifully with older kids and teenagers who are a bit more
predictable.
Moxie is a devoted companion and an absolute love of a dog who is ready to be the
center of attention once again. While we are heartbroken by this decision, we feel
comforted knowing that Moxie will have the chance to thrive again and that she will
bring her new family the same amount of joy that she has given us over the years.

Moxie loves people and will love you. She is a loyal companion who will want to spend all day nearby. She loves getting head scratches and pets from her people.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Baby/Child Safety
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
We have a one-year old child and Moxie has not thrived having a small human in the house. Moxie has a hard time relaxing when the baby is crawling around, and we are worried that she would bite him if he crawls up to her when she is sleeping. Moxie has tried to stay away from the baby as much as she can, but with him crawling around now it is getting harder to manage.

We put a sprinkle of canned tuna on top of her food.
