We are searching for a forever family for Lily Luna. Lily is a Pitt/chihuahua mix that came to us from a shelter about a year ago. She was in terrible condition and malnourished. We have worked hard to bring her back to health. She is current on all her vaccines including bordetella. She is spayed and current on flea/tick and heartworm meds. Lily is wonderful with kids but would do better in a home with older kids as she still has a lot of manners to learn. She can get excited and will jump at first but settles in quickly. She does excellent for grooming and baths including nail trims. She can sit when asked and is working on the stay and heel commands. She recalls well and loves to go hiking and swimming. She gets along with other dogs great and tolerates cats but has a tendency to like to chase them. Not aggressively, it’s just fun to run! We have three cats and she sleeps with one almost nightly, but outside at playtime she can wear them out. Lol. She would do best as a single dog as she does have a tendency to get jealous, but she loves company too and has always done good in our pet spa around client pets as well as when she stays at the boarding facility and has play dates. She needs a home where she can be physically active. Someone who can take her out on adventures and lots of walks. She LOVES to be indoors and be cuddled. She loves her sweaters too and will come with her own little mini wardrobe. She still struggles on occasion with potty training and will need consistency from you. She doesn’t like crates but the location she came from was extremely rough. It’s something we have been working on and she will need continued support. She comes with food, her sweaters, a slow feeder bowl, harness, leash and collar. Lily is truly an absolute sweetheart with a huge heart. Unfortunately our older German shepherd is having a hard time with the overly energetic puppy life. We also travel a lot and have been struggling with giving Lily the attention and exercise she needs. She rides great and loves to go along when she can. She’s a happy passenger princess. If you think Lily Luna would be a good addition to your family, please reach out. It is important to us that she goes to a supportive, responsible and loving home. Thank you for your consideration!

Additional notes about your dog’s health history::
Lily had a rough first chapter in life but is recovering beautifully. She is a people pleaser and just wants someone to let her be the lap dog she is at heart.
Has your dog ever shown any challenging behaviors, such as biting a person or another pet? If so, please share some context.:
She has never bitten or offered to bite. Only aggression we have seen was two separate occasions shortly after she came home during a night terror. But as soon as she woke up and realized where she was she settled right back in. She used to be a very restless sleeper but that has also changed a lot since we brought her home. Shelters are no place for a puppy.
How often does your dog require grooming (e.g., bathing, brushing, trimming)? :
She was getting bathed several times a week through the summer and fall. In the winter we haven’t had to do it as often. She gets a full spa day about every 3 weeks now.
Does your dog have a dental care routine (e.g., brushing, chews, professional cleanings)?:
She chews on antlers a lot and hasn’t needed any other dental care. Her teeth are in excellent shape.

What's the most endearing thing about your dog?:
Lily is a people pleaser. She just wants to show you how good she can be and works hard to do what’s asked of her.
What criteria are important to you when considering an adoptive family or home for your pet?:
That they continue to support Lilys journey. She has overcome many obstacles.
Is there anything else you'd like your pet's new family to know?:
Lily is smart as a whip, sometimes to smart. Like she can open the garage door to let herself inside when we aren’t home. LOL only a problem because she will eat the crayons and playdough the kids leave out.
Why are you rehoming your pet (primary reason)?:
Schedule, No Time
Details about rehoming reason (if needed):
I took on homeschooling our three kiddos last year and we are now on the road a lot with my husband. Miss Lily travels well but we can’t always take her with us. She doesn’t do well alone for long periods of time. It also makes her progress and training difficult. We would like to find someone who can give her the support we can’t. Our german shepherd is also going into her golden years and is not near as tolerant about Lily’s puppy activities as she once was.
If applicable, do you have the legal right or necessary permission from the breeder or rescue organization to rehome this pet? :
